Crew Diaries:
AMY RAYMOND
Production Assistant
playing in the river
[Director] Jim did a great job in putting his personality into a really beautiful film. The movie came out rich, sentimental and dream-like, despite the fact that it was in production during one of the hottest seasons in one of the hottest places in the U.S. Amazing. Here in Austin, I will hear the soundtrack at some of the strangest places with the people playing it claiming that it is their favorite CD.
One thing I would like to know is if Richard, the 2nd 2nd A.D., is "still breathing"?! The 2nd, 2nd AD is in charge of all the Production Assistants (PAs) who do everything from crowd & traffic control to running errands and almost every job that no one else will do. There was never a moment of still air on the radios with him around. With one squeak over the radio, he had all of us bumbling P.A.'s running and sweating, all mumbling our indignations toward him. I only hope Richard transposed his 'good fella' might into something a little more serene!
My favorite memory of "Still Breathing" was the kid actors who are in the dream scenes. One of the best days of the shoot was when we were at the San Marcos River and had these curious youngsters were having the time of their lives. (So was the crew, who got to spend their lunch hour playing in the river). The kids actually sent me letters telling me what a great time they had. I had the opportunity to see them again at the world premiere screening in Austin, and they were so happy they got to see themselves on screen.
...Amy Raymond - Production Assistant
Director's note-- Besides brightening the set up with her great sense of humor and smile-- Amy won the award for best cowboy hat on the set. Amy is also an actress and lives in Austin.
