BRENDAN FRASER

The next Brendan Fraser film to be released is STILL BREATHING from Zap Pictures. "Ah, this is a neat film!" he says. "It's written and directed by Jim Robinson who is from San Antonio and is making his film debut. He now lives in Los Angeles. And his film is based in the present in the world of destiny and dreams. When a [San Antonio] street performer, a puppeteer, an artist has a vision of his true love, he diligently sets off to find this woman. He discovers her not in Formosa, China, where he thought she would be, but in the Formosa Cafe on Santa Monica Boulevard. A rather dyslexic romance is born. As it turns out, the woman has been having sort of parallel dreams about this guy. But she's moving away from men. She lives in Los Angeles. It's a hard place. She's frustrated and angry with herself and the world. She was formerly an artist herself and she's running a scam now. She's selling bad art at top dollar to these men whom she pretty much treats like dogs."

"At any rate, when these two opposites find one another - and opposites do attract - we are able to go on a journey with them. It's been said that it's a very sweet romance story, but it's not naive in any way. But it boasts some wonderful performances by Toby Huss, Michael McKean, Joanna Going, and Celeste Holm." What Fraser does not mention is that the film was shown at the Seattle Film Festival in June, where Fraser won an award for best actor. "The question is whether Joanna and I will stay together. It's left an open book, but then so is life," he concludes.
